RE: Canadian Refining Regionalism CVE just wrapped up the remaining 50% of Toledo refinery from BP in Feb 2023
The Toledo Refinery has 160,000 barrels per day (bbls/d) of throughput capacity, including about 90,000 bbls/d of heavy oil capacity, and increases Cenovus’s total downstream refining capacity to about 740,000 bbls/d.
CVE is now eyeing Phillips 66 Wood River refinery at Roxana, Illinois which CVE is in JV with Phillips 66.
Both have capacity to process heavy oil + upgrading. No doubt CVE see future for refining fossil fuel.
Quebec always was and still is against western oil/gas. They just t like hurt the west at any chance. Ex. Quebec got to vote on against the banning of federal carbon tax bill introduced by the conservatives party, even though Quebec isn't involve nor paid into the federal carbon tax but quebec sure can dictate carbon tax for the rest of canada.
