RE:RE:BAT coughed up a nice premiumGetting some fair banking set up for the marijuana hopefuls in the US certainly can't hurt.
I really want to see some Fed level legalization that should solve most of the problems and roadblocks set up by US law and policy makers.
They wove in a lot of ways out but leaving the pro-pot States in the precarious predicament they are in with their handshake deal to let the individual States administer their own justice could be pulled at a whim.
It is certainly enough of a deal to keep the Canadian LPs and other non US potpreneurs paralyzed despite them saying that they are forging ahead in anticipation of the US legalization of THC and value added products.
WEED has dipped their toe into the US with a deal with Acreage Holdings to rto Acreage by WEED with a share swap. Their investors are asking what the holdup is to get to more fertile ground with all of the potential from their sku list and brands that show so much promise.
Tilray is buying up craft brewers and a distillery, I think, with intentions of having bottling infrastructure ready for launching their THC and other cannabinoid lines of beverages, but they too, are waiting for some kind of invitation such as true legalization that paves the way and eliminates the heavy penalties and the negative, protectionist perception that non US players are causing their restrain to enter the US legal States.
Cannabinoid infused beverage skus show a lot of promise to take leading sku positions and proportionate marketshare from beverage alcohol and WEED and TLRY have the alcohol end covered until they feel legal and safe to introduce the new vice on a level playing field with beverage alcohol and it's well established bars and lounges.
We are just starting to see some progress with a few thc infused beverages testing the waters at alcohol bars and lounges where they feel legal.
The beverages won't get full stride until they get rid of the prejudicial laws that don't allow thc and alcohol to be served and sold in the same venue. This was one of the more prejudicial (redneck) decisions made by those charged with drafting pot legalization proposals. The alcohol industry was undoubtedly the best choice to keep the underage removed from legal pot access because of their history with enforcing alcohol age limits but those that were charged with protecting us from ourselves decided that alcohol and pot wouldn't happen together and that is what they built on.
That needs to change!
The OGI and BAT deal has a big amount of the deal reserved for proving up medical use, which is never going away and promises to be more lucrative and profitable but with more hurdles. There is a thc and cbd cannabinoid that fits the bill for a weightloss option which seems to be a good place to put some money that could be competition to Ozempic and help with weightloss and lower blood sugars for diabetics.
The medical use possibilities are endless and just got recent approval for US scientists to have access for studying and developing pharma products from. I like to think that BAT is leading the way on this.
