RE:RE:RE:New open job position posted - “Exro Vehicle - EV Technician ".Something is in the works.I just got a feeling Tesla is the OEM.When they announced there coming out with an EV for less then $30,000.I was thinking ONE MOTOR and NO GearBox for them to make this happen at a profit."
Possibly Danno.
However, it's important to keep in mind that EXRO's claims for increased efficiency and enhanced performance are predicated in part on the use of SiC technology. Tesla reportedly is attempting to lower cost by reducing the number of SiC components by up to 75%.
I believe that the next OEM to be revealed will be the Volvo Group (not Volvo Cars which is a separate company). It will involve the off-road 48V diesel-hybrid NDA and will include an Integrated Starter Generator (ISG). All IMO.
ISGs are commonly used to reduce fuel costs and carbon emissions by shutting off the engine while idling and restarting it quickly. They also can be used to provide torque assist while the engine is coming up to speed.
The use of a CD with motor windings excited in "serial" mode would be an excellent solution for these functions with a heavy diesel. Not a pricey item. But significant volume (8-10K units).
And also applicable to buses that stop and start frequently. (The 'third' European NDA that raises its head from time to time?)
