RE:RE:HopeYes LCSulla, There's plenty of videos floating around in Venezuela of Venezuelan military practising crossing jungle rivers using huge barges carrying armoured personnel carriers and clearing jungle to make roads and military bases. Note that Venezuela's biggest allies are Russia and Iran. Simply google "Venezuela Hezbollah" to get an idea of the extent to which proxies of Iran and to a lesser extent Russia have infiltrated Venezuela, Colombia, Brazil etc.
The locals are trying to figure out just what is going on. Tempest in a teapot or a prelude of something bigger in some grand geopolitical chess game. Venezuela has clearly declared that they don't recognize the authority of the ICJ any more than Putin recognizes the authority of international law. The "world order" is being challenged all over the planet. Even the UN is a joke to most people. But that's a topic for another discussion except to point out that underlying this entire mess is the total disregard for anything the ICJ rules. What are they going to do? Send US marines to Guyana in order to defend it? The local military experts say that Guyana's military wouldn't last 2 weeks in the face of an invasion. That's not knocking Guyana. They are a peaceful country and haven't had a need to create a huge military.
Anyway these guys are hell bent on stirring up some conflict with Guyana for reasons that nobody can figure out about a territorial dispute that has laid dormant for decades and now, all of a sudden, it's a huge issue. We'll see what happens.
