RE:Not a clear bad decisionTempo1 - You are correct about specialists knowing more than most about aircraft modifications and whatever can happen when such an endeavor is taken on but to me he, the Heroux-DevTech president, just sounded like a guy who wanted to make sure the option that best suited his company's bottom line was chosen.
This is a classic case of 'a bird in the hand is better than 2 in the bush' (Hope i got this one right). The main thing is no one but Bombardier knows how 'sure' they are that they can make this work.
They've done quite a few 'specialized missions' aircrafts and they are all selling and appreciated all over the world, so it's not like they don't know anything and might be way overconfident about their abilities. i admit uncertainty is quite normal and doubts from anyone buying an unfinished, let alone not-started-yet, product are quite healthy. I'd question anyone who would go into such a buy without doing its due dilligence.
Another thing, we can submit that General Dynamics wouldn't come into such and agreement with some company they are not convinced can help them sell their products. (they are specialists in that field too)
A decision has been made, Bombardier will react and life goes on. They might sue or they might come to some sort of agreement for the future that no one will know about for a while. Bombardier might also just focus on the business at hand and kick @ss like they've been doing for the last 3 years.

I don't have a clear opinion about the Gvmt decision but i am disturbed by the Heroux-Devtech president opinion about this contract; he said that a Boeing decision could be the best for the country. He explained that there is a proved efficient plane with Boeing and only uncertainty with the Bombardier solution which doesn't already exist but have to be developped.
Listening to this by an aerospece specialist troubled me. The Bombardier solution is a project which need large modifications to the jet. We understand that adding torpedoes launchers under a jet is not a light modification and listening doubt from specialist like the Heroux Devtech president is troubling.
As investor and tax payers, we could have a partial opinion about this highly technical decision; listening to specialist could help.
I hope that in the next days, we could have a clearer picture of he situation.
