RE:RE:RE:RE:Many nuclear plants coming online

RE:RE:RE:RE:Many nuclear plants coming online@ sumpineh - Still early days but Darlington is scheduled for expansion.  DOW too is set to begin construction on a proprietary SMR for its operation in Texas.  Lots of industrial applications for SMR's going forward.

The Ontario government announced it is working with Ontario Power Generation (OPG) to begin planning and licensing for three additional GE Hitachi Nuclear Energy (GEH) BWRX-300 small modular reactors, for a total of four, at the Darlington plant site.

The announcement about three potential additional units builds on January's announcement about a contract to build a single BWRX-300 at OPG's Darlington site. Construction of that unit is scheduled to be completed by late 2028, with the supplying of power to the grid set to start in 2029.

Dow has announced its UCC1 Seadrift Operations manufacturing site in Texas for the location of an X-Energy small modular reactor (SMR) project.

Dow and X-energy will now prepare and submit a construction permit application to the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC). an important milestone to bringing the project to fruition. Construction on the 320 MW four-unit Xe-100 project is expected to begin in 2026 and be completed by the end of the decade.
