The Ontario  government passed Bill 218 in December 2020 that provided immunity from Covid lawsuits.

the standard to still sue would require GROSS NEGLIGENCE which would be very difficult to prove given the uncertainty at the time and the lack of clear direction from the govt on Covid policy.  This bill was also required to ensure LTC homes could remain insured.  British Columbia passed a similar bill, as did Nova Scotia.  

likelihood of this going anywhere is slim to none imo.
