RE:CRE in the top 50 most shorted stocks on the TSX Venture?

RE:CRE in the top 50 most shorted stocks on the TSX Venture? It's not particularly unusual to be ranked among the top 50.   What's bizzare is that, from Sep-15 to Dec-15, the SP dropped from $1.90 to $0.84, or a decline of -55.8%.  In the meantime, the short interests grows from 256,932 to 745,322, an increase of +190%.  This highly unuaual.  Normally, when SP goes up, the short interest goes up.  When the SP drops, the shorts cover their position and the short interest goes down in tandem.  Not this time.  The SP goes down, the short interest goes up.
