RE:Oh Canada ...I loved this! I couldn't agree more.
I'm one of those people who took the leap and lives on solar, had to try it. It works great... All summer... However my 27kw propane powered Cummins generator fires up ever day or two from Mid November to the end of February. I'm not even that far north but couldn't imagine having to choke down and EV. I couldn't charge it for 1\3 of the year on a regular 9-5 or plow my way out down my 3km of forestry road. Do they even make one yet that can plow or pull? Or make one large enough to fit my whole family and dog along with all the bikes and gear? I'm all for well thought out "solutions" but this is insane and favoritism for just one industry.
One thing I've learned is that the world doesn't exist in the eyes of a politician outside of the GTA, Vancouver and the province of Quebec. Our voter density is too great in those areas and every election is a joke! Tiny pockets of red and orange on a map that fit under your thumb decide the fate of the country year over year while the rest of the resource rich country is blue and absolutely furious. Same story over and over again. I don't really see how things can change but I'm hopeful-ish
Everytime I walk down a major city street in Canada I'm harassed by some dirp with a hat in hand and a sob story... How I see the he typical voter in a Canadian city. Looking for handouts, demanding my money upset about the world, unwilling to relocate and doing nothing about it. Ignorant to their own situation.
Fortunately the mishandling of the pandumbic, the anger it generated and it's wide reaching economic affects are still being felt. Plus the average person blames the liberals instead of the BOC for rising rates and increased mortgage payments. The ignorance is in our favor!
