Just saying,...
Today marks the last day when shareholders can sell and have a tax loss for the 2023 tax season.
It will be interesting to see if this changes the sell patterns, or buy patterns, or board comments, in the coming days.
True about taxes but dont forget the last minute window shopping/dressing spree. Statements sent by mutual funds, pension funds, high net worth managed accounts, even your TD monthly statement, are done on a trade date basis. Taxes are done on a settlement basis. So if I have BIR in my institutional portfolio and I don't want to explain to my clients or my investment committee, why I own it........again, I sell it before close of trading on the 31sr, or this year, the 29th. I can always buy it back or switch to a half dozen very similar names. So there may be a couple more days of selling pressure, but retail investors and taxable accounts are done for 2023. Fast forward to 2024 please.
