The importance of Bornite

The importance of BorniteThe ore shell of a Copper Porphyry Deposit (CPD) is mostly Chalcopyrite with lesser amounts of Bornite.  It resides between the low grade Potassic inner core and the outer Phyllic zone alteration shell.  Michael Gray of Argentis Capital has studied hole 5 and has concluded that the hypogene mineralization is Chalcopyrite and Bornite and the supergene mineralization is Chalcocite overprinting the Chacopyrite and Bornite.  This means that through blind luck hole 5 went into the ore shell of a buried/blind CPD with a supergene cap.  It would be a greater stroke of bad luck if it just happened to go into the ore shell of a small PCD.  More likely it went into the ore shell of a huge CPD.

There are rare instances of Bornite being a supergene mineral but that doesn't seem to be the case here.

Hopefully, we will get the rest of the deep holes this week.  That will give us information on size and whether there is one PCD or a swarm of them.

BIG is currently my biggest hope for 2024.
