December operational updateWe experienced significant snow events in Munich, Montral and Ottawa at the beginning of December, followed by high winds exceeding operational limits in Atlantic Canada and the US Northeast in mid-December. Although these weather events challenged our operation, all stations did a remarkable job in handling these disruptions to keep our impacted customers moving as quickly as possible after the events.
“Our winter readiness planning has been paying off as we saw a stable operation throughout December. Mother Nature has also been on our side which has helped with this stability,” said Cale Daniels, Vice President, System Operations Control. “In comparison to December 2022, we’ve seen a 24-point improvement in our A@14 metric, and a 5.5-point improvement in our flight completion metric. Kudos to everyone for working together to move 3.8 million passengers across our network with minimal disruption and a special thank you to all employees who have been working in the operation over the holidays.”
We’ve also seen significant improvement in our customer satisfaction scores. Our international trans-Atlantic and Latin America/Caribbean segments saw a strong increase to scores in the Feeling Taken Care Of category. Compared to last year, the sentiment from our customers overall is significantly more positive this December.
We’ve learned many lessons from 2023 and look forward to an exciting year ahead. Best wishes to everyone for a happy, safe and successful 2024.
