A big deal being made about Russia's Udokan Copper fire...And how it's disrupting copper supply ...yadda, yadda...
I don't think the market is grasping K&K's scale
Udokan will only supply 135,000 tons of copper in concentrate
Udokan planned to launch the first stage of the plant in the second quarter of 2024 and produce up to 135,000 tons of copper in the form of cathode or metal in concentrate a year, according to its Dec. 20 statement. From 2026, the annual capacity was expected to rise to 150,000 tons. Mickey Mouse compared to K&K's 400,000 tonnes, imho
- Over the first nine months of 2023, Kamoa-Kakula has produced a total of 301,336 tonnes of copper in concentrate, placing it well on track to deliver annual production guidance of between 390,000 - 430,000 tonnes of copper.
