RE:Premium continues to shrink

RE:Premium continues to shrinkENS is my largest holding at this time. With regards to Obsures1 comments I totally agree. While out for my daily hour walk...kayak is in dry dock...I met a fellow retired NOVA employee. He commented about the horrible performance of ENS and he was shocked when I told him I just bought more shares. I tried to explain how ENS was a spilt share and may not pay a distribution if Endtridge shares fell low enough, but if they went up ENS should go up even more on a percentage basis. He had no idea of what he held and asked me how I knew this. My only reply was to read the information out there...you wouldn't but a new vehicle without doing some homework. I'm thinking this is the position and homework most ENS holders have done.

This is for Experienced. Totally agree with the prefeferred shares you have mentioned. I bought the Enbridge B shares a few months ago and am up about the same as you. Question...the B shares will reset at 8.7% with a 2.5% five year GOVT bond yield. Maybe I'm wrong as to the issue you have but why would you buy the H shares with the same reset that would yield 7.3%. I look at the worst case and buy according to a lower 5 year Canada bond for safety. This worked well after Covid it was perceived the world would die...interest rates went to zero and prefs yielded up to 10% with reset of 10% or more at a 5 year bond yield of 0%. I loaded up and was up more than 100% before I started selling in late 2021 and early 2022. It was a very nice mid 6 figure gain and a horrible tax bill. I moved the gains to prime linked cashable GIC's at 4.75%. All income from that and other dividends/distributions has been deployed to ENS, CPX, TRP ex div that was a stupid crash.. SPB and BCE at $51 and change.

Too much typing for me. I can only give my total respect to you and Obscure1 for your posts and I'm sorry for the abuse you receive on another oil company stock. I think it was 2009 or so when I bought 1000 shares the day before it announced earnings...made 2K and sold...it was about $43. I bought again at $26 and sold at mid $45. I agree...oil stocks are for trading only and not holds. My best was VET average cost of $9.40 and sold all at $32.00. My wife says no more oil stocks...if I'm sad she says "oil bad?" and if I smile it's "oil good?" I also got beat up on WCP so I'm much happier owning the mid streamer's. She doesn't have to comment any more about oil stocks as I'm out lol.

I hope we all have a healthy and profitable 2024!
