Many investors see shorting as "immoral", even Elon Musk came out and made comments on it however it is actually legal. Personally I think Shorting had good intentions when it was first introduced however it's gone astray is is now being abused by lazy Hedge Fund managers who spread unfounded FUD in order to support their short position trades.
Shorting comes with
EXCESSIVELY HIGH RISK as there is no cap to how
high a shareprice can go and once it starts going up the shorts start seeing their once profitable position go negative. Negative doesn't end for them once they hit zero, it just keeps on going and going and going. If the Shareprice goes
High Enough they literally cannot afford to exit without declaring bankrupcy.
With that said, you have to consider that Warren Buffett came out and noted that he never Shorts stocks. If you go through all the documentaries on him, go through every interview you can find (etc) you will realize that Warren uses a Long-Haul Dollar Cost Averaging Strategy. Essentially he never stops adding on his position (regardless of shareprice movement) until it gets to a certain price level then he starts to slowly but surely sell off the shares he accumulated.
I have heard many complainaints when I post references to Warren as many say "
If I had his money I could do that" (bla, bla, bla) however anyone familiar with Warren's history will know that he started his Billionaire journey with only a few hundred dollars and started out trading High Risk / High Reward stocks. Once he started to become successful (and managing other people's money) he switched from High Risk / High Reward to much much more conservative investments however continued on with the Long-Haul Dollar Cost Average Approach.
Warren Buffet does not use Chart Data, he does not short and he became a Billionaire. Today I believe he doesn't even carry a smartphone. The reality is this -> Warren Doesn't hover over a screen everyday fretting and worrying about a daily shareprice movement. He mades his investments in Sectors and Stocks he sees as having a Great
FUTURE, then he waits, and he waits, and he waits, he waits out all the weak hands and slowly gathers the shares of those who are impatient as he himself is very patient.
To Quote Warren Buffett:
"The Stock Market is a device for Transferring Wealth from the impatient to the Patient"
I hope everyone is having a good evening. It's Beer + Wings for me tonight and guess what... I will not be fretting about my investment in Canopy Growth.
All the Best
