I agree with your outlook -- the EV revolution is here to stay. NA manufacturers are often fast movers -- and they moved fast into a declining economy. Why are they putting on the brakes...likely because there was a general deceleration of the economy and lackluster car sales/leases in the past couple years while interest rates were climbing incredibly fast. Not because over the course of 2 years and 10s of billions of $s spent they all of a sudden pivoted and decided that EVs are dead. That sort of shift is very very unlikely.
The Japanese manufacturers - Honda included - have been slower on the acceptance of EVs and have been very methodical in their analysis of where the car industry is headed. The very fact that Honda wants to build an EV plant tells me that the future for EVs is baked in the cards. The Japanese producers are the most methodical in terms of customer analysis, production analysis and have been the most accurate in terms of customer wants, needs etc -- that is why they dominate. I trust that their public announcement is a sea change for them and we will only see more over time.
As for what Trump will do or won't do -- funny to think anyone can see inside the head of one of the most unpredictable Presidents ever -- he may double the incentives if that means crushing the Chinese domination of this space....who knows
As for how low we are going -- could be 70s, 60s....hey, not too long ago we were in the 30s.....equally though, with a recovery in Li pricing, larger deposit and deal in our hands we could go well north of $1.50.....and that is why there are buyers and sellers....
