EV's Demand is largely Political, not market based.

EV's Demand is largely Political, not market based. It is kind of obvious when one considers how long Tesla has been producing EV's.  Actual market demand for EV's is just not adequate enough to displace ICE vehicles in meaningful numbers. I know many will tout impressive growth rates and 'S" curves, but the truth is EV's have had ample time to displace the ICE market and it has not happened. The bulk of EV purchases are in Democratic cities.  Continued efforts to force EV's on an unwilling public will serve only political purposes, and cause distortions in the natural marketplace.
Investors would be well served to set politics aside and look at human nature.  IMO EV's will remain niche vehicles, not mainstream, regardless of government intervention.
As usual, your mileage may vary :-)

From Robert Bryce's latest Substack:

https://robertbryce.substack.com/p/my-us-senate-testimony-on-epas-ev

"Many new technologies start off as niche products, appealing only to a relatively small subset of households. But it has now been 14 years since Nissan introduced the Leaf, and 16 years since Tesla introduced the original Roadster. Moreover, there are now over 100 different EV models for sale in the United States.
Enough time has passed — one might have thought — for the U.S. EV market to have broadened considerably. Yet we find a strong and enduring correlation between political ideology and U.S. EV adoption. "
