RE:Winter weather

RE:Winter weatherFreezing rain and and low winds, will impact wind turbines in Texas.

“Due to continued freezing temperatures, very high demand and unseasonably low wind, operating reserves for the Texas power grid are expected to be low Monday morning, Jan. 15, before sunrise.

--------------------------

These are short-term events. For things like solar/wind, energy  storage will be required.

I see renewable energy development addressing 3 things:

1. Replace/reduce fossil fuel use;

2. Deal with current demand and peak loads which are near capacity already;

3. Address large future demand for electricity.

Improved inter-provincial and US, transmission options. Act as back-up to renewables and mainstay electrical.

For Alberta I expect Northland will build energy storage facilities to supplement their large solar projects.

It's not simply going green where the focus today appears to be, but addressing the complete package for future generations. And need back-up power for renewable energy.

Northland and then others will be busy for decades in a challenging environment.
