From the perspective of ENB, they spend about a billion dollars a year for pumping stations on their pipeline system. They are constantly looking for ways to reduce these costs where it makes pragmatic sense and as such they have bought into solar capacity.
Not saying that it makes sense elsewhere but as an ENB shareholder this is something to keep in mind.
