I beleive upon commercialization its now called LASER (I'll look it up later) which is solvent injection via modern horizontal pipe (I guess services several vertical CSS wells).
So, no it does not use the existing CSS vertical wells.
LASER a bolt on to their (IMO (in my opinion, ha) much inefficient) Cyclic Steam Stimulation (when compared to SAGD)
Bottom line for me, this Cold Lake insitu has >3,000 wells producing >40 years inefficently, probably has many more left. IMO could buy a demo CTI RFXL to test if it works in this reservoir/geology. If successful, IMO i.m.o. should upgrade to modern more efficient CTI RFXL for its next 40 years (100 years) producing life.
