Matt Manson has over 25 years experience in mineral exploration and mine project development. Between 2019 and 2024 he served as President and CEO of Marathon Gold Corporation, responsible for the development of the Valentine Gold Project in Newfoundland and Labrador and joined Calibre’s board of directors upon Calibre’s acquisition of Marathon in early 2024. Prior to Marathon, Matt served as President and CEO of Stornoway Diamond Corporation, financing and developing the Renard Diamond Mine in north central Quebec. Between 1997 and 2004, Matt was employed by Aber Diamond Corporation (subsequently Dominion Diamond Corporation) in a series of progressively senior roles culminating in Vice-President, Technical Services and Control, during which time he participated in financing and development of the Diavik Diamond Mine in the Northwest Territories and oversaw Aber’s technical and marketing operations. Matt was awarded the Viola Macmillan Award by the Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada in 2015 and was the Northern Miner Mining Person of the Year in 2017. Matt is a graduate of the University of Edinburgh (B.Sc. Geophysics) and the University of Toronto (Ph.D. Geology).
