RE:Nickel to be in surplus rest of the decade - bloomberg

RE:Nickel to be in surplus rest of the decade - bloombergIf the govt of China is the actual true underlying entity that is a major investor/owner of Indonesia's nickel, what is stopping the private western nickel industry and their democratic governments from challenging China at the World Trade Organization for unfair subsidies or anti-competitive trade practices, and if that fails imposing duties/ tarriffs?
The US has no problem imposing duties on softwood lumber, and Pres.Trump hit China with soybean tariffs if I recall correctly. If western jobs are on the line in a key "green" industry like nickel, that is about as easy a political win that a politician could ask for. Plus nickel has fallen so much that even if it bounces back a bit it may not be very inflationary. To me it seems like a "textbook" win-win for us.
