ZS2 Technologies secures $1.82M NGen grant
to manufacture low carbon cement building materials in Alberta

ZS2 Technologies, a leader in decarbonizing the construction industry, announces $1.82 million in funding from Next Generation Manufacturing Canada (NGen) to accelerate the development of low carbon, made-in-Canada, magnesium cement building materials.

The funding from NGen will support the construction of a magnesium cement product manufacturing facility with the goal of ultimately producing carbon-negative building materials to decarbonize the construction industry in Canada and around the world.

The funding comes as part of a combined $2.76 million to ZS2 and their strategic research and development partners Progressive Planet (TSXV: PLAN), LithiumBank Resources Corp. (TSXV: LBNK), Occam’s Technologies Inc., and Falkbuilt Ltd. under the Advanced Manufacturing Projects program.

“Our government is working hard to ensure that Canadians have access to a safe and affordable place to call home. Innovative projects like this, that create sustainable, affordable and durable building materials, take us one step closer to achieving that goal. We will continue to be there to make life more affordable for Canadians, like on housing,” says The Honourable Franois-Philippe Champagne, Minister of Innovation, Science and Industry.

Currently, ZS2 Technologies uses proprietary magnesium cement technology for cement sheathing and prefabricated building panels that provide rapid construction timelines, climate resistant buildings, and lower embodied and operational carbon footprints for buildings across North America.

“Canada, and indeed the world, need more climate resilient homes, and they’re needed fast. We’re excited to take this next big step forward with NGen and our R&D partners to provide the materials the world needs that are designed for the climate of the future,” says Scott Jenkins, Co-Founder and CEO at ZS2. “The future of housing is sustainable and rapid construction that is both affordable to build and affordable to live.”
