RE:RE:This May Finally Be The Big One We've Been Waiting For!As I understand speaking to a few individuals in the know, the Ontario government had to submit a formal and detailed plan on how they would spend the funding from the federal gov BEFORE they would get any dollars. The fed originally announced funds for all provinces about a year ago, but it was contingent on each province completing and getting fed approval for those plans. As part of its process, Ontario had to engage contractors and third parties via RFP submission and select winners (which I suspect THNK was one of many, though I don't know for certain) however all those arrangements were contingent on recieving Fed funds. In otherwords, a whole bunch of private companies won RFPs and likely have done a fair amount of work already but they weren't getting paid until the fed deal became official (i.e. until last Friday's announcement). So now that the $3.1bn is official I'm sure there are going to be timing delays and final doting of i's and crossing of t's, but we should see these contracts become official in a relatively short period of time. Remember that the $3.1bn covers a three year period and Ontario needs to achieve certain milestones to get future funding (again, according to those in the know). That means Ontario needs to implement rather quickly, hence all the pre-work and RFPs ahead of the official signing.
