RE:Posted on the CEO site forum - FYI@BCONTVentures @Atachetatuque Thanks for sharing the above article, very interesting. Note that both PyroGenesis and Lefebvre Industri-AL are part of alu Quebec (Aluminium Quebec). Both Juan E. Salazar (PYR) and Johanne Lefebvre (Lefebvre Industri-AL) sit on the alu Quebec Advisory Committee: https://aluquebec.com/en/about-us/advisory-committee/

@BCONTVentures @Atachetatuque Here are some papers on PyroGenesis' DROSRITE processing, they reference some of the work they have done with Lefebvre Industri-AL:

HARJAY wrote: @Atachetatuque Below you will find an article by Hlne Baril “RECYCLE GREEN, IT CAN BE” published in the newspaper “La Presse” today about the French company Lefebvre Industri-AL established in Baie-Comeau Quebec. Some of you may be aware of this agreement but it is worth remembering. Although PYR torches are not directly mentioned in the article, the use of electrical equipment is mentioned. But it is plasma torches that are used. There is indeed a link between Lefebvre Industrie-AL and PyroGenesis Canada. “Lefebvre Industri-AL is a company that designs and manufactures heat treatment equipment for the metallurgical industry. PyroGenesis Canada is a Canadian company that develops and commercializes plasma technologies for waste treatment and advanced materials production. In 2023, Lefebvre Industrie-AL signed a collaboration agreement with PyroGenesis Canada to jointly develop and commercialize a new plasma technology for the production of aluminum powder. This technology will produce high quality aluminum powder at a lower cost than current technologies. The link between Lefebvre Industri-AL and PyroGenesis Canada is therefore as follows: Both companies are leaders in their respective fields. They have complementary expertise in the field of heat treatment and plasma. They collaborated on the development of a promising new technology. » Here is the newspaper article SME INNOVATION - GREEN RECYCLE, IT CAN BE Recycling is not without impact on the environment. A small business in Baie-Comeau has found a recipe to make it without losses and without emissions. THE IDEA An aluminum smelter that comes to your home can change your life. This is what happened to Thrse and Marc Lefebvre, from Baie-Comeau, who responded to the needs of the company then known as the Reynolds Metal Company for handling and warehousing services. Twenty years and two expansions later, the family business has transformed. Under a new name, Lefebvre Industri-AL, it now specializes in the recycling of aluminum produced by the factory which became the property of Alcoa in 2000. The two founders are not far away, but it is their daughter Johanne Lefebvre who is now at its head. The one who studied communications and politics in Montreal helped out in the family business during the summer. She finally came back for good. THE PRODUCT The Alcoa plant in Baie-Comeau manufactures rolling plates of different alloys, according to the specifications of its customers. The residue from this production is recycled and returned to the production process. The recycling process is not new, explains Johanne Lefebvre, but until recently, it had limits. Fossil energy was used for the remelting and greenhouse gases were emitted in the process. Above all, it could only extract 55% of the aluminum. The rest, largely composed of hazardous materials, was sent to landfill. Lefebvre Industri-AL has been thinking about ways to do better. The company has developed a unique (and protected) recipe to recover 100% of the aluminum contained in residues and all other metals that are used in the composition of alloys that can be reused. All this is done without any greenhouse gas emissions, which is undoubtedly the small company's main asset with its major client. “We started this in the middle of a pandemic,” recalls the CEO. We had the wind in our faces and it took all our savings. » Using electrical equipment rather than ovens that burn fossil fuels does a large part of the work, recognizes Johanne Lefebvre, but new ways of doing things make all the difference. The company is particularly proud of what it has been able to achieve itself, with its own financial resources and valuable employees trained on site. THE FUTURE It is often risky for a small business to depend on a single customer. In the case of Lefebvre Industri-AL, this could well be an advantage. Everywhere, aluminum producers, who are large consumers of energy, are seeking by all means to reduce their environmental footprint. Recycling is an interesting avenue for them, and recycling without GHG emissions even more so. The doors of this small world are beginning to open to the Baie-Comeau SME. The company is invited to international events organized by the industry and European customers are interested in its technology. The time for big decisions is approaching, says Johanne Lefebvre. Financial partners will be needed to continue expansion. “We need to grow the team. We can no longer do everything ourselves, she says. There will be choices to make. »
