I agree, no protection for you.  But maybe if you had had a 30 year successful track record in some global industry,  you would be afforded such luxury.  Then possibly yes.  

And that is exactly what BPY has done, lever up to the hilt with non-recourse loans.  And the recent junk rating is quite the slap in Brookfield's face, which means their financials are quite troubled.
