Goodfellow over capitalizedBonjour Carlm20,
Thanks for the correction $1 of div.on a $14 stock is 7.1%
I took 90 cents.My mistake.
As for the results i did not invert them. You can go on Sedar to see all of the results history.
The covid lumber prices increase made 2020 and 2021 outsized results.
But in 2023 lumber came back to earth and GDL posted good results in a "normal " environment.
They seems to be managing their inventory VERY VERY well.
The stock is very cheap.so the downside risk is minimum.
Here are the last 8 Q4 Sept. to Nov.
2022 EPS 52 cents on sales of $149m
2021 EPS $1.18 on sales of $143m
2020 EPS 67 cents on sales of $123m
2019 EPS 03 cents on sales of $107m
2018 EPS 02 cents on sales of $1113m
2017 EPS 26 cents on sales of $128m
2016 loss of $131 cents on sales of $131m(The ERP problem)
2015 EPS 23 cents on sales of $135m
I too am a long term shareholder of GDL.I use to go to the annual meeting when it was held
at the Sheraton in Downtown Montreal.
I live at about 40 minutes drive from Delson. If i have the occasion i may go this year and get
the chance to meet you.
As for your idea of $1.25 for last year 125th birthday, i think it brilliant.
You should email it to Olivia Goodfellow, she is the IR person and the director of marketing and communications
I too would like to see more buying under the NCIB and your idea of a dutch auction under
a SIB would also be great but i doubt it will happen.
My actual calculation of the float is about 3,265,000 shares. Can you imagine an SIB of just
10% of total stock in a range of $14 to $17.It would bring the float to about 2.4 million share.
The outflow for GDL let say at the maximum price of $17 would be only 14.5 million.
Like i said in a previous post, they are way over capitalized.Goodfellow has never had so much equity in their history.
In 2001, the equity was $57.6 million for sales of $453 million.
This year after Q3 results they had equity of $195 million for sales of $387 million.
Patrick Goodfellow seems to be doing an excellent job.Like another poster wrote,
The Goodfellow are VERY old so is M. Jarislowsky.
I for long have thought that their neighbors in Delson,Stella Jones would be a natural fit
to buy them but so far i has not happen.
In any event, i am with you in thinking that Q4 results may be better than expected.
The industrial side could make up from the weak housing side.
Thanks for the Facebook photos information.
I like my small position in GDL.i only have 5,400 shares and will keep holding them.
Again thank you for the correction and thoughts and good luck with all of your investments.
I am french so excuse all of my speling mistakes
