RE: Question - Jetstream

RE: Question - JetstreamOuch, an uncharacteristic flaming from you. I don't think you read what I wrote very carefully. I have quoted your post below and commented. > " Solars had some sort of exclusive agreement for several years for > distribution of their systems via orbit." > No, the agreement was for 4 years which was signed 1 or 2 years ago. So I say several cos I didn't know exactly, and you say 4. You are more accurate, but that doesn't make my post wrong, so why start with 'No'? > This was never hidden. I never said it was, I was refering to "need for hard pipes" see below. >SCS is not fixing a problem, they are improving their software and > connectivity. They will contiunually improve this. It is called progress not fixing a problem. Tiny2 wrote a few posts back "RE NEWS" "Refers to a hard line in toronto at TourTek "Previously Solarnet went through a line supplied by Orbit. "Amedeus will be teaching travel agents to use LL+. "It's complicated but this is important good news. "TourTek needs the hard wires to be transaction enabled : IE interface with "Solarnet." What I referred to as 'fixing a problem' you call improving connectivity. That's the old chesnut, "do we call this a bug or a feature?" It's more than improving connectivity, it is making something work. okay fixing an issue might be more accurate. The issue is that "TourTek NEEDS hard wires" in order to be "transaction enabled" If this is the first pipe they have announced, then presumabley most of these are not yet in place severly restricting ability of consolidators with clients on other GDS's to utilize this product. No NR has said what additional Hard wires are required or what the timescales are likely to be. If requirement and timescales for Hard Wires had been announced as part of Tourtek ASP NR then I agree this would all be part of the ongoing improvements to software and connectivity. If Travel agents on most GDS's cant use Solarnet / LL LL+ to access consolidator Information hosted on Tourtek ASP and we are only hearing about this now, after Tourtek ASP has been announced; I call it a problem! The failure in previous NR's on Tourtek ASP to mention this IMO is misleading, suggesting Tourtek ASP is closer to market than it really is. Particularly given cash issues with company and the need for income from LL+ and/or sales of Tourtek. I agree with you about GDS wanting to speed up adoption of LL+. Presumabley because Airlines are taking direct booked fares to the web and beginning to squeeze travel agents margins and GDS revenues. Consolidator to Travel Agent potentially booking fees becomes a larger slice of their future income. Getting these pipes in place takes time and money. Both are in short supply. If they need to be in place before Consolidators and Travel Companies will come on board... well the question was, "Why is the share price falling?" do you have any better ideas? Idle
