Shares out 'confusion'When you buy shares on another exchange, they're all from the same corporate issue of shares, as authorized and issued by the company.
The ASX 'shares' are actually CDIs; when the CDIs are issued for another exchange in another country the total corporate share issue remains unchanged.
The Australian CDI issue was presented as an IPO.
From the 9/11/23 Novo N/R:
"Following the IPO capital raising, Novo has 342 million shares on issue (37.5 million of which currently take the form of CDIs on the ASX and with 304.5 million being shares on the TSX)."
The Q3'23 Novo financial report shows the total share issue (including the ASX shares) as:
Share issuance - ASX IPO, 37,500,000
Balance [total] – September 30 2023 - 341,945,455.
So the total of all Novo shares is ~342MM according to the Q3 report).
Just to confuse things a little more, both the TSX and ASX show Listed Shares Out as 353,060,847.
