Constellation Brands STZput their people in to strategic places with Canopy, Acreage, Terra, Jetty and the other like minded companies to be the marketmakers either by shareownership or debt from loans.
It wasn't just Mulroney who fell in to the gravypot with Acreage, John Boener did too for the same amount as Mulroney got greased for by endorsing the brand. Murphy also took care of himself handsomely and between the 3 of them they drug out more cash than the revisited deal cost Canopy for the takeover arrangement for Canopy to assume Acreage which was $28 million, down from $4 billion in the crazy days.
Constellation stayed the course after their initial overpayment for shares of Canopy that cost them $5 billion by getting a hook and their management involved in some very interesting brands which fits the big picture of Canopy taking over Acreage and vending it in to Canopy USA along with those interesting brands to be a market mover and shaker and all it will take is a change of heart by Team Klein to turn their motivation from devastating all of these companies to backing them and building them in to the great American dream company Canopy USA holding company.
STZ has been instrumental in all of this happening and their marketcap has assumed most of the previous high value of Canopy's marketshare and added it to theirs. Keep in mind that STZ still has a financing company and have treated their shareholders well with increased shareprice, marketcap and dividends, that is to say, they ain't hurtin'!
Canopy was the world leader but it wouldn't take much for some smart lawyers to prove the marketmaking effects from STZ took it from being the leader to where it is now.
I think the BioSteel fiasco was just another move to rattle the shareprice of Canopy down even farther than in was.
It is just a matter of what management is trying to do with their latest investment.
Actions speak louder than words and STZ is in the driver's seat to wipe out Canopy and Acreage shareholders by weaving their tales of woe right alongside positive reports of profits soon and black ink for everybody when we plant our flag in the US.
Apparently there is no concern by our management of all of these companies that this is going to happen soon, although soon is not quantified.
Canopy should be marketing the hell out of Canada's Safe pot supply for the US who can't say the same.
The pot companies that are going to be left standing after the right-sizing of players and supply are going to have unique, winning products and being able to claim them as legal pharmaceuticals will separate the buckwheat from the bs, pretty quickly.
I am noticing a little more action on the cannabinoid infused beverage players, at least some of the small players like Jones, Tinley and Blaze even after the beer companies that showed interest backed off.
Cannabinoid infused have a place in the social market like alcohol because they are healthier options that need to be let in to the existing pubs and bars because having to build their own is just another stupid idea by some rednecks to waste time and money and delay the success of the new, healthier, less calorie and sugar skus formulated by the cannabinoid industry.
