So forget about 8%, let's wait for $40 and get 10%. That would be another 10 year low to set to the one just set was this week.
Now, yesterday more than 6 million shorts were covered. Today, I would think some are being added, but with ex-dividend day approaching, they will have to drive the price down more than $1 per share in order to cover the dividend on Mar.14 ex-div date.
Either that or cover. Seeing they started to cover yesterday knowing that there is huge support at the 52 week and 10 year low set earlier this week, shorts are playing with fire if they don't cover prior to March 14.
