GE last month scrapped plans for their 18MW turbines. Instead focusing on improving smaller turbines.
However Haishuang Wind Power in China is testing their H260-18MW turbines. Incorporating new technology--Load bearing reducing pitch controls, holographic sensory system, etc.
Also on the horizon is direct electrolysis of hydrogen without desalination of seawater. Then don't need to use fresh water rivers onshore.
Tourist attraction the large turbines. 850 feet high (260 meters). That's 2/3 of the Empire State Building roof height. Or CN Tower's Skypod observation area, which is same height. (Tallest public observation deck in North America)
