RE:We do not know what will happen...On a day by day or week by week you are entirely correct. However, certain stocks have clearly demonstrated their trajectory over long time frames. Look at the stock chart for Royal Bank as just one example. In most years, if you had bought RY at its peak, you will still be up 12 months latter and over five and ten years you will definitely be up. That is why so many of us don't try to day trade.
