RE:RE:Take over process..in general General question , with a very easy answer.
zero of the companies I bought & held shares in , thinking of a take over.
Held shares as an investor.
seeing the price extreamly below any sensible, or justifiable number, looks to be a good place to buy.
list, FYI, Chrysler motors, Dofasco, Newfoundland telephone, first city real fund, white rock REIT, CIL industries, walker resources,Corel , all, I owned shares in various times.
all were bought out, or became part of a merger.
Regarding trends etc?
im talking 45 years of trading . Back then were lucky to see. A stock price once / week.
also, off that list onky a few I held to thr takeover period.
Never expected, there was zero indication of ...
Quick example , first city real fund. They were hurting very bad. Sp valuation was dismaltalks of doom & gloom
Yet resding the longer term, they had huge potential. Well beyind the share price was showing.
i was surprised when the announcement came RioCan was offering to buy them out.
The Rralfund BOD recommended the shaeholders vote it down.
the public announcement pushed the SP, a counter offer came above that price.
deal was accepted.
To your question directly. The market had zero indication of the coming takeover.
ONC specifically? Look back on the chart prior to the A.N. Partnership announcement.
The SP was dismal, the volume pathetic.
if markets refelectdd reality. Boeing shares would be worth a fraction of where where it is now.
onc SP is way silly low.
like I said.3 options.
the price corrects
news validates the drop
they get bought out.
onc(y) is traded, by many who have no idea what Onc is or does.
being chartists who look for trends. Buy & sell on $$ targets.
onc(y), has been manipulated by shorting for a very long time.
The recent sp hit is a direct result of the PanCan cancellation.
Yes sometimes there are leaks & prices climb in advance of takeover.
Certainly not every time.
