Right?
THAT would destroy many Canadian cannabis operators - in an already crippled Canadian cannabis sector.

However, it's currently Canadian law that cannabis is not allowed to be imported - if you think the US wouldnt also enact reciprocal protectionist law, and allow foreign cannabis to compete with thei lobbyist billion dollar cannabis industry - then Vegas isn't a corporate lawyer.

RE:How schedule 3 will effect Tilray

Vegas63 wrote:Some posters ask frequently  "   how does cannabis  going to a schedule 3 effect Tilray " ??

First lets look at what schedule 3 drugs in the United States  are ;

Schedule III  ; Drugs with low to moderate  potential for abuse and / or addiction  .,..
Some examples of Schedule 3 drugs are ;

- Products containing less than 90 milligrams of codeine per dosage unit ( Tylenol with codeiine )
- Ketamine
- Anabolic steroids
- Testosterone

these are only a few samples of schedule 3 drugs in the United States ,, you can look it up on the internet to see more if you want ,,,

Once cannabis ( marijuana ) joins the list of schedule 3 drugs that's it ... it is now a schedule 3
drug  according to the law ..

Some states have different lists of schedule 3 drugs but Cannabis will be on it ,,.,

On January 5 , 2024 , the Food and Drug Administration ( FDA ) authorized the state of Florida
to import prescription drugs from Canada ..,. to take advantage of  LOWER costs Canada is producing and selling  ,,.,.

the drugs Florida will want to import include those that treat HIV/AIDS , mental health  conditions , prostate cancer and othe cancers ,,, you can look at the  whole list if you go on the internet ,,,

other States want in on the importing of Canada's prescription drugs including Cailforna

as Florida has stated it would save them hundreds of millions by importing Prescription drugs from Canada ..,.

I am not a corperate lawyer but I am sure Tilray has coperate lawyers that have looked into
what prescription drugs  Florida will be importing that are schedule 3 drugs ,,.,

as mentioned if the FDA  has approved any schedule 3 drugs to be imported to Florida from Canada a Precedent has been set ...  meaning Cannibis /  Marijuana   is just another schedule 3 drug if Florida wants to import they legally would be able to ...

That is actually an interesting perspective, you may be on to something there! The medical side of the market may benefit Canadian LP's if they can tap into it. The assumtion though is that big pharma will inflate the prices in the US, so that is dependent on pharma entry into the sector. Wouldn't that be ironic if pharma entered through Tilray lpl. I'm sure that will be clarified in legislation once rescheduled. Thanks for that perspective Vegas!

Hard to say really, if you look at medication now the prcices are far less in Canadanfor the same pharma product in the US. The prices in the US are determined by the the medicare system and pharma. The Canadian government had concerns about supply in Canada if Florida were able to by here in Canada. It may actually be the Canadian government tha blocks any sales? Not really sure what would be better for Tilray if they were in the US as well, I would think they would prefer that US folk paid US prices for the same product. I;m sure politicians will get involved and mess it all up either way.

On that point, I think pharma has assured to Trudeau that supply would remain intact in Canada and I think Biden has announced a plan to allow their medicare system to purchase medication outside the US should his econamic plan pass. Either way, schedule 3 would allow import/export of medication, how the states or would deal with protectionism against the feds plan is anyones guess at this point. Certainly nothing you can realistically price into the share now.
