One possibility is that Gates/Evolv are manipulating the stock with strategic bids and asks to suppress the stock. This is a go to tactic for Gates- did it with his competitors all the time.

Right before he bought them out, and either added their tech or smothered it.

Its not shorters, IMO. They are a very small percentage of shareholders, and I don't think Xtract is as fertile soil for shorting as it used to be. I think Evolv is more their bag- far more prone to huge drops in price with all their issues.
