RE:RE:A Rant - Some OT and Some NotNelson...you are certainly entitled to your opinion as to relevance of my posts. That said, if your focus is narrow, you are certainly likely to make mistakes as time goes on by missing "irrelevant" things that can have a big impact on your investments.
In terms of selling SU a while back, I am not in the least bit frustrated about that since that money was put to good use elsewhere.
As for your later points - for someone who seems to know my history and therefore must read my posts, I am surprised that you said what you did since I have mentioned many times my views regarding the use of petrochemicals in the production of such things as plastics and clothes which are being substituted by Government policy and bans..but hey I guess Government policy is just irrelevant and has no impact in your world...I have also said that oil will be needed for many more years. The question (my point) is for longer term investments whether there are better choices out there which have a tailwind as opposed to a headwind.
As for electricity...last time I checked, oil is not used very much in the production of electricity so I'm not sure what your point is... The private company that I have invested in has targetted the billions that you talked about who don't have electricity. What will they use to produce this electricity? Not oil....natural gas; biofuels and later hydrogen if that becomes practical. Their technology also allows for the pass through of renewables such as solar and wind if available.
