RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:Hopeing for recovery above $46Telus looks attractive here now as well. Technically it looks like there's a bit more downside, maybe another buck or so but a good point to start acquiring. Too bad you started acquiring Telus a month ago. I've seen several analysts on BNN over the past few weeks that have been touting Telus as a buy over BCE as BCE news turned negative so it's no wonder retail started buying a bit early (around $24) as many don't do Technical analysis to augment fundamental analysis.
These days stocks largely trade on Technicals because buy and hold for long term gains is a thing of the past. In the old days when investors had to call a broker to trade their shares and had to pay hundreds of dollars in commission to place a trade of a few thousand shares, people weren't flipping shares in minutes or hours like they do today. Fast forward to today, and access to trading is so easy and cheap these days that 'Investing' really isn't Investing any more, it's short term Casino style trading for many. It's interesting how when you listen to the various Fund Managers / guests on BNN these days how many of them openly admit to being active traders of their fund holdings vs. long term holders. What ever happened to the "You can't time the market" mentality that was all you ever heard years ago? Not so today, you better be able to time the market and pick your best entry points or the profit you saw yesterday is gone in a blink.
The large Telecoms are very interest rate sensitive because of the higher debt they carry and so until there is better clarity on where rates are going they will be volatile so buckle up. In the meantime, at least they pay a decent dividend while you wait.
