45,000 tones might be about 0.5 meters in the pond. The product from the earlier mining might have been salt.Hardly enough to start production??
For 15 years i have recommended against conventional ponds since they are monsters to control. At 3.5m^3 per minute feed, it takes about 50 days for one turnover. There is no way to keep NaCL.2H2O from precipating in cold weather, in the bed and on pumps and piping.
NaCl must be controlled. Seasonal evaporation and precipitation as well as submerged combustion add to the complxity. The mining plan is no better than at Moab and needs serious revision.
Add a little science and it will work. But that means change. Those changes will reduce costs and complexity.
