Emily Powers sudden, unannounced retirement...

Emily Powers sudden, unannounced retirement...Back in May and June of 2023 I made a number of posts concerning the less than stellar job performance that I felt that Emily was doing at Chemtrade.
It now seems to me that Emily's position in the business became even more precarious after the false emergency notification in November at Chemtrade's facility in North Vancouver.
What is odd though is that no NR was issued concerning her retirement and the only information released is this short burst "Emily Powers (retired December 31, 2023)" on p.29 of the 2024 Management Information Circular, especially when you consider the fact that Trustee, David Mutombo's resignation was announced in a NR on January 15th of this year.

I for one do wish Emily the best of luck in her future endeavours.

Emily Powers, a soon to be former GVP?

Looks like there have been a few developments at Chemtrade due to some of my recent posts on SH. Checking the help wanted ads, I see that Chemtrade is currently looking for a Senior Manager, Communications. The position reports to Emily Powers, but that would seem to be the full extend of Emily's involvement with the new position. That in itself is very odd!
But what is interesting are some of responsibilities concerning the External Communications requirements of the position;

  • Take ownership of content of External Webpage and social media (LinkedIn, Facebook, etc.)
  • Collaborate with Environment., Health Safety and Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) resources on publication of annual Sustainability Report
  • In collaboration with the GVP, Commercial and the Business VPs, develop and manage communications for Chemtrade’s customers
  • Collaborate with CEO, CFO, General Counsel, VP Corporate Finance and Manager Corporate Development on communications to investors, to ensure the ongoing alignment of investor and employee messaging
  • Fulfill role of Communications advisor in Crisis Management Plan, specifically by drafting and disseminating internal and external communications during a crisis, responding to media inquiries, and monitoring media and social media reports
  • Monitor media activities to ensure that media reports of interest to Chemtrade are circulated appropriately.

It looks to me like Chemtrade has listened and is now addressing some of the concerns that I have recently raised here on SH.

Kherson
Very odd indeed...
