RE:US BOEM receives report on Alaska Wind Power generation

RE:US BOEM receives report on Alaska Wind Power generationReading the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management report for Alaska, the same process will have to be done by BC Hydro. Not not only for northen marine areas, but further south along the coast where a lot of wind/wave energy exists.

Practicability of development encompasses the affordability of electricity produced. I'm not an engineer, but say, can 10 units of offshore wind energy be used to create, 15 units of hydrogen energy?

I don't know what was meant by "...ocean based resources could enable electricity production greater than the capacity" of the producing area. Clean hydrogen was one option to create a parallel path to serve other end uses.

BC Hydro says electricity deficit per year will be 3000GWh. Others say much more. Total, who knows? For sake of arguement, 15000-30000KWh annually extra will be needed.

For the Alaska report, it says total new requirement 4800 to 83000GWh annually.

A sleeping giant in both regions. Industries like green hydrogen, etc are yet to be built. There are those companies who won't commit to invest until electricity is guaranteed.

---------------------

I have posted aplenty on this forum. Can debate climate change issue forever, but  according nto the NREL report: "Climate change can affect community resilience, infrastructure stability and energy availability."

Strain on fishing and forestry industries. Weather changes inducing drought with the resultant reduction of hydro production potential.

And if Alaska and BC will not go nuclear, then wind energy/hydrogen will be one way to go.

---------------------

I wish best for future generations as new technologies emerge which will address change change. CO2 levels which are rising is evidence something is not right.
