There are possibilities…

There are possibilities…From the TliCho Investment Corp CEO on LinkedIn...

" The Northwest Terriories (NWT) definitely needs to take the closure of the diamond mines seriously. It will be a much larger impact than most people realize. The author, Graeme Clinton of the report, “eyes wide open” makes a couple of major points for consideration:

- The number of direct and indirect jobs is significant. Direct employment for Yellowknife will be approximately 1300. Those are high paying jobs that support local businesses, stores, restaurants, etc.

- There is nothing on the horizon to replace the closure of the mines. At $2B coming from the mines on an annual basis other industries such as fishing and tourism can only do so much.

- Diversification is an important piece of any economy. However in order for diversification to be effective you need to have an, “anchor tenant” which is mining.

What is not mentioned in the article is the large impact to Indigenous communities and businesses. The mines employ hundreds of indigenous workers and support Indigenous businesses in a big such as Tlicho Investment Corporation & Group of Companies and Det'on Cho Management LP.

We need to work together to develop a plan for post-diamond production and build a sustainable economy which includes mining such as badly needed critical minerals."

it's our ticket to development!
