IMC Group, owned by Warren Buffett, has made a significant investment in Daegu, South Korea. Here are the details: Investment Amount: The IMC Group will invest KRW 130 billion (approximately $98 million) to build a semiconductor materials manufacturing facility in Daegu. This facility will produce tungsten powder, a critical material used in manufacturing special gas for semiconductors. Location: The manufacturing facility will be located in Gachang-myeon, Dalseong-gun, Daegu. Strategic Importance: Tungsten powder is considered a strategic material globally, and many countries, including Korea, maintain stockpiles of it as a vital resource. Previous Investments: This marks the third investment by IMC Group in Daegu. Their earlier investments were in Taegutec in 2008 and IMC Endmill in 2018. Impact: By attracting this investment, Daegu aims to secure a base for manufacturing a key material for semiconductors, contributing to the development of the local semiconductor industry. Berkshire Hathaway, Warren Buffett’s investment company, holds 100% shares of the IMC Group, which is headquartered in Israel.
