I wouldn't entirely dismiss possibility of a Barrick bid; Magino doesn't quite make the Tier 1 grade according to Bristow's guidelines but Barrick's Hemlo down the road isn't going to last forever and Magino might be suitable for them in a couple of years under their management.
In a statement last year, Bristow clearly defined what he views as tier-1 credentials: 10+ million ounces of gold in resources. 10+ year mine life. Minimum annual production of 500,000 ounces. Bottom quartile of cost curve. IMO
