On my side, I usually work this way : 50% fundamentals (mid to long term movements) and 50% technicals (short term movements).

With my statistical background, I enjoy a lot technical analysis. I think it is a great complement to fundamentals, specially to determine good entry points in a stock. I personnally consider volume as the most important indicator of all that exist, because it let you know if each price movement is important or not.
