Government subsidies for EVs is generally declining, spurring the drop in their sales. 

EVs are only popular as costly toys when the average taxpayer (who can't afford one) is put yet further into public indebtedness by their governments.  That deficit spending is becoming unpopular given the cost of it now eats up close to the most expensive thing governments pay for.
