RE:RE:Dreamer’s Buy-Out Debate

Copper Mountain was not nearly in a similar position, compared to Taseko, as you may have thought. They were having some serious problems at their sole producing mine at the time and Eva, their version of Florence, didn't have the same favorable economics. A nice asset for sure but not as impressive as Florence. If you remember, they were having some CEO performance issues as well. That said, do agree that the final acquisition number was light. At any rate, back to Taseko...Wow, what an impressive last few months. Share price up in the area of 75%+ for the early year alone. Cu spot going ballistic and looking quite favorable moving forward. Since our last "Acquisition Dream" post, overall Taseko environment has improved from an already nice spot. Not sure why we haven't heard anything relative to Q1 performance as of yet. Anything to be made of that? Probably not but still a head scratcher. Moving to thoughts of a dreamy buyout, still don't see it happening. Taseko, absent a greatly improved New Prosperity agreement with the locals of some sort, is likely too small for a major to come knocking with a "real" offer for consideration. The majors don't want to mess around with assets like Yellowhead that is several years away with lots of permit steps along the path and NP with all kinds of question marks yet to be solved. So, they would basically be bidding on Gib and Flo alone. Not big enough. However, if we see any substantial progress in the NP situation, that's the next potential game changer.
For now, let's just hope Florence can move into production before the next major market collapse. We're watching our indicators daily and still not in the red flag SPX territory but that can change fast. One step at a time. Let's examine the Q1 report and go from there. But hey, how bout them copper prices? Awesome, great backstop assistance for a share price that keeps heading north without many resting spots. That's probably why we're not up more today with another huge copper up. Go Taseko!
