What's interesting ?

BayMag
also lists EON as claims.  ( interesting )

The M t Eon deposit outcrops j u s t above t h e v a l l e y f l o o r
along t h e lower west f l a n k of M t Eon, some 26 miles northeast
of Invermere. Other occurrences a r e located s e v e r a l miles t o
t h e south, on t h e ridge between Mitchell River and Assiniboine
Creek, and on t h e west f l a n k of M t Brussilof about 2 miles
north of t h e junction of Cross and Metchell Rivers; t h e l a t t e r
occurrence was sampled by t h e Geological Survey of Canada i n
1965 and t h i s l e d t o t h e staking of a s u b s t a n t i a l number of
claims i n t h e area.
The occurrences were i n p a r t staked by R . Swainson and
optioned t o New Jersey Zinc Exploration Company (Canada) Ltd.
Work on t h e 70 claims held by t h e company during t h e period
1966-1968 included geological mapping, sampling, and 1,017
f e e t of diamond d r i l l i n g i n 8 holes. The r e s i d u a l claims of
t h i s group were acquired by Baykal Minerals Ltd. Under t h e
agreement, r o y a l i t e s t o a t o t a l of $2.00 per t o n were payable
t o M r . Swainson and New Jersey Zinc. Other occurrences were
apparently staked f o r Brussilof Resources Ltd., which was
incorporated i n November 1969.
~ i ~ k a lMinerals c a r r i e d out 4,200 f e e t of diamond d r i l l i n g
on t h e M t Eon deposit i n 1970. An a d d i t i o n a l 3,900 f e e t of
d r i l l i n g i n 1971 was p a r t f i l l i n and p a r t f u r t h e r explor-

undertake a f e a s i b i l i t y study. Laboratory t e s t s were c a r r i e d
out by t h e University of B r i t i s h Columbia, Mines Branch,
Ottawa, and Lakefield Research.
By agreements of December 1970 and May 1971, Mineral
Resources I n t e r n a t i o n a l Limited purchased a lo.$ i n t e r e s t i n
t h e property. I n November 1971 Baykal Minerals and Brussilof
Resources were amalgamated t o form Baymag Mines Co. Limited;
t h e combined properties t o t a l l e d about 340 claims. Canadian
Exploration, Limited optioned t h e property i n January 1972;
t h e company name was changed i n October 1972 t o Canex
Placer Limited. Work by Canex during 1972 included geologi-
c a l mapping on portions of t h e Rok, Joe, Mag, and Don claim
groups, 10, 557 f e e t of surface diamond d r i l l i n g i n 39 holes
on t h e Rok and Vano groups, and bulk sampling. The Canex
option expired i n September 1974.
Mineral Resources I n t e r n a t i o n a l Limited i n 1975 purchased
-1,600,000 shares of Baymag f i n e s from M r . 0. Bakyl, of

Calgary, t o give the company a 51.G i n t e r e s t . Work during
1975, carried out by Elco Mining Limited, included trenching
and 160 metres of diamond d r i l l i n g i n 8 holes. Tonnage and
grade of the d r i l l e d portion of t h e M t Eon deposit i s
reported as follows (all grades are expressed on a burned
basis) :
Tons MRO gr;;;%ran~e
low grade 6,517,000
medium grade 7 1 084 000 95-9%
high grade 7,664,O0O 9% +
(Mineral Resources International, 1975 Annual Report ) .
Baymag i n 1976 completed a f e a s i b i l i t y study on the basis
of a 30,000 tonne per year caustic burn magnesite operation.
A 200 tonne bulk sample was shipped t o Europe i n 1977 f o r
further testing. Mineral Resources International i n 1978
sold i t s i n t e r e s t i n Baymag t o a German refractory company,
Refratechnik Gmb H; by 1980 the company held a 9% i n t e r e s t
i n Baymag; a minor i n t e r e s t i n Baymag was held by New Jersey
Zinc Exploration Company ( ~ a n a d a )Ltd, a wholly owned
subsidiary of t h e natural resources group Gulf and Western
Industries Inc. Work during 1980-81 included 17,000' of
diamond d r i l l i n g and bulk sampling. The deposits were
estimated t o contain some 50,000,000 tonnes of the purest
crystalline magnesite known i n the world (9% M ~ O )(Qilweek,
25/10/82, p 41).
Baymag Plant Partnership, of Edmonton, was formed as an
operating consortium by Refratechnik and three private
investors. They obtained a long-term lease on natural gas
f i r e d kilns no longer i n use a t the Canada Cement Le Farge
plant a t Exshaw Alberta, 50 miles west of Calgary. The
f a c i l i t y has a capacity of 100,000 tonnes of magnesia
annually. The magnesite i s p a r t i a l l y crushed a t the mine-
s i t e and trucked t o the Exshaw plant. The plant, Canada's
f i r s t commercial magnesium oxide producer, commenced
production i n May 1982.

So yeah... German refractory.
Sounds like ores are shipped there. ( oxide concentrates )

And.... would Geological Survey Canada feel it has dibs on all lands it surveyed ?
= wants the lands now it took part in, exploring long ago ?

If at all accurate, then step forward and partner - right ?
