The president of the Council of Ministers, Gustavo Adrianzen, reaffirmed the commitment of President Dina Boluarte' government to promoting energy, mining and alpaca development in the province of Carabaya, Puno. In a multi-sector visit of the Executive to the town, Adrianzen stressed the importance of the region and the government's dedication to boosting its economy and improving the quality of life of its inhabitants.
During the press conference with the provincial authority Edmundo Caceres, Adrianzen highlighted the mineral wealth of Carabaya, especially mentioning resources such as lithium and uranium. He emphasized the need to harness these resources with social and environmental responsibility to ensure that the benefits reach citizens and negative impacts on the environment are minimized.
'"The Carabaya district not only has valuable minerals, but also considerable water wealth, evidenced by the San Gaban I and II hydroelectric plants, and the 80% progress in the San Gaban III works, which will produce more than 250 megawatts of energy". Adrianzen explained. This energy development is crucial for the supply of clean and sustainable energy in the region and the country.
Promotion of education in Carabaya
One of the most notable announcements of the visit was the creation of the National University of Carabaya, an institution that will offer new educational opportunities to young people in the region. Adrianzen pointed out that a commission in charge of the organization of the university will soon be established and it will be provided with the necessary budgetary resources to begin its tasks. This university will be a fundamental pillar for the academic and professional development of young people from Puno, thus contributing to the progress of the region.
In his speech to the citizens, Adrianzen expressed his condolences to the relatives of those who died during the social protests of December 2022 and January 2023. He assured that the government is committed to ensuring that these events do not go uninvestigated and that responsabilities will be determined. He recalled President Boluarte's request for forgiveness in her Message to the Nation in July 2023 and stressed that all facilities are being provided for the investigations to continue.
