Estimates too conservative both in BC and Quebec

Estimates too conservative both in BC and QuebecA lot of industrial electricity needed, both in BC and Quebec. I wonder if multiple First Nations could participate in a large project, even though the project may not necessarily be on their territory.

Hydrogen is the talk, but possible LNG Phase 2 and the others will need electricity also. I would like to see scale projects above 200MW cap to addressed must like in Quebec. Maybe negotiated deals (outside a power call) could be done. Gives offshore wind projects a chance, which require scale to secure economies of scale and cost savings.

Juergen Puetter, a wind power pioneer and CEO of Aeolis Wind Power, is guardedly optimistic over the latest power call, though he believes BC Hydro is being too conservative and may have to revise its load forecast upwards. "We also expect BC Hydro will revise their requirements for energy upward quite considerably.

As of the date of the workshop, BC Hydro has had more than 5,000 megawatts of project inquiries in the hydrogen space.

Site C dam’s capacity is 1,100 megawatts, so if all the proposed green hydrogen projects were in fact approved, BC Hydro might need a whole lot more power than it currently expects to build.
